The Forbidden Lands
The Forbidden Lands are home to the majority of the sorcerers of Torian. They rarely leave their home due to their belief that the mortals in inferior and not worth their time.
The sorcerers are split into ten family lines that where each line has a specific power set. The strongest of each line is called the Head of that line, and in charge of everyone it the Head or Heart of that generation. In each generation there are two exceptionally gifted sorcerers born. One Head and one Heart. They get powers from at least four or five lines. When the current leader dies they both come into their full powers. Then they find each other and fight to the death. The winner becomes the new Head or Heart depending how their powers manifest.
The Head thinks logically and acts purely on instinct and is normally the stronger one. The Heart thinks emotionally and acts after more thought, and normally is the smarter one.
Powers for each sorcerer are discovered at puberty when they come in. From there they are gifted their lineage marks by the Head of the sorcerers. These marks appear as tattoos on their lower neck and forever show the lines they stem from. A child inherits one power line from each parent. Most sorcerers only have one child and so they can choose which line to give their child when they decide to have one. Once their powers come in a sorcerer can then choose which line they want to study more as their dominant power. Sometimes the skill is obvious and the power chose them. They can live in any of the lands they have powers from.

Powers: descended from the god of war they are the most violent, aggressive and territorial of all the sorcerers - are the most feared of all, they ignite and spark chaos around them and thrive on pain and torment preferring to rule with terror and violence

Powers: predict the future - either in visions, dreams, or cryptic messages but are often not believed, exceptional healers with the strongest being able to heal with magic alone

Powers: control the natural world involving all living plants so they can grow or kill plants, are the most peaceful of the lines, and can bring calm to the people around them

Powers: descended from the god of the underworld they can communicate with and see the dead, more powerful are able to predict how someone will die, though not always when

Powers: powers can come from any of the houses, odd mix of skills but powerful in whatever they get

Powers: controls the element of earth - can move mountains, and rearrange the land in front of them, have the ability to turn rocks, mud, clay, into things such as bricks, walls, etc.. and move it around with ease

Powers: can read minds, see through someone's eyes, have the power to control minds, speak to others in their minds, and enter dreams, strongest crackers because they can see through other's minds and pin point a location

Powers: control the element of water, including all bodies of it, and can summon it from things such as plants and the ground, control the weather - stems from their power over water, but it extends to winds, storms, and hurricanes for the stronger ones

Powers: control the element of fire with the ability to hold it, create it from nothing, and extinguish it at will, create explosive forces from things around them but usually it involves fire - strongest of them can explode other things

Powers: have the gift of communicating with animals - strongest can communicate with all animals, but all members of the line have at least one animal they can talk to, also can control the animal they can communicate with - strongest of the line can turn into an animal as well - often are named for the animal they can become

Head or Heart of the Generation
